1. GENERAL DESCRIPTION

The European Union, European Commission (EC) Delegation in Singapore offers internships for young university graduates from Singapore or from the Member States of the European Union. This training involves practical work experience.

Internships are offered throughout the year and selection normally runs 2 to 3 times a year.

Tasks would typically be equivalent to that given to junior executive-grade staff e.g. compiling documents, researching and analysing information and documentation, contributing to high quality reports, organizing visitor programmes and other events, replying to queries, participating in team meetings, etc.

2. PURPOSE OF TRAINEESHIPS

The purpose of a traineeship with the EC Delegation to Singapore is, in particular:

  • To give you a better understanding of the objectives and policies of the European Union.
  • To provide you with practical knowledge of the working of Commission departments.
  • To enable you to acquire personal experience in your everyday work contacts.
  • To enable you to further and to put into practice the knowledge you have acquired during your studies or professional career.

3. DURATION AND COMPENSATION

While the term of your traineeship may vary, we recommend duration of at least three months and in no case longer than 6 months. Preference is given to candidates available on a FULL TIME basis, i.e. 35-40 hours per week, Monday through Friday.

Internships at the EC Delegation in Singapore are offered exclusively on a VOLUNTEER (unpaid) basis. As a public sector organisation, we are unable to offer you the compensation which you may be able to receive in the private sector. We offer a unique opportunity to gain a hands-on work experience of the European Union, the world's largest trading entity and the most prominent organisation transcending the nation state.
