    Higher Education in Italy

    Study in ItalyItaly is a country with many facets and diversity, where art and culture play an important role, where beauty, design, good taste and fashion are an everyday “imperative”.

    The heritage of art, archeology and architecture is one of the richest in the world and every city and region focuses on preserving the evidence of various civilizations and cultures of the past..

    Italian hospitality, a “know-how-to-live” and high quality of education have made Italy unique experience and privilege for living and studying.

    With 19 Nobel Prize laureates since 1906, Italy has a long history of academic excellence and is home to the western world’s oldest university, dating back to 1088. The university system consists currently of 75 universities.

    Italy has played an important role in European higher education: it is one of the four countries that first engaged to create the so-called "European Area of Higher Education" (Sorbonne Declaration, May 1998), thus starting the type of higher education reform which, known as "Bologna Process" (Bologna Declaration, June 1999) is being implemented all over Europe.

    Italy ranks among the 8 most industrialized countries in the world.
