Visit by Christopher Patten, EU External Affairs Commissioner

Commissioner Patten visited Singapore on 29 and 30 June 2004. During his visit he met with Prime Minister Goh and Trade Minister George Yeo and attended a briefing with EU Heads of Missions chaired by the Irish Presidency. Commissioner Patton also delivered a keynote address on EU-SE Asia relations in an event organised by the EuroCham and the Institute of Policy Studies and chaired by Professor Tommy Koh. The Commissioner reaffirmed EU’s engagement towards Singapore and to the SE Asia region to a large audience from the diplomatic corps, government officials, business, academics and the media. The Commissioner also held a Press conference at the end of his visit.
