50th Anniversary Gala Screening
“The Lives of Others”
Jubilee Hall, Raffles Hotel
A Gala Film Screening of the Academy Award winning
German film “The Lives of Others” at the Raffles Hotel
Jubilee Hall was held to celebrate the 50th Anniversary
of the Treaty of Rome. Senior Minister of State for
Foreign Affairs, Dr Balaji Sadasivan was the representative
of the Singapore government and was guest of honour.
A special 50th anniversary message was delivered by
Ambassador Holger Standertskjold, Head of the Delegation of the
European Commission to Singapore and an intorductory film clip
“Historical Overview of the Construction of the EU” was shown.
The German Embassy in Singapore representing the presidency of
the EU, assisted by acquiring the film “The Lives of Others”
and the German Ambassador gave a short introduction to the film.
The event was attended by approximately 350 people from a broad spectrum of society.
