PM Goh celebrating enlargement

The Delegation of the European Commission in Singapore, the Irish Presidency of the European Union and the European Chamber of Commerce celebrated the enlargement of the European Union with Prime Minister Goh Chock Tong as Guest of Honour. President of the European Commission, Romano Prodi spoke to the audience of over 1,000 guests via a video link.

This event was called “The New Face of Europe” and was a celebration of the 5th wave of EU Enlargement that occurred on 1 May 2004 when the EU welcomed ten new members bringing the total number of EU members to twenty-five. Cyprus, the Czech Republic, Estonia, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Malta, Poland, the Slovak Republic, and Slovenia were the new members.
